¿Qué queda por decir de Radiohead? Poco, la verdad. En los últimos veinte años ha sido de los pocos grupos que ha marcado un antes y un después en la música y ha conseguido inspirar a cientos de bandas posteriores, como Muse, Coldplay o los nacionales Vetusta Morla.
El gran boom de Radiohead llegó en 1997, año de publicación de "OK Computer", cuando la prensa musical británica se volvió loca con estos cinco chicos de Oxford. Este fue el primero de los ábumes que Nigel Godrich produjo a Thom Yorke y compañía, una unión fructífera, aunque truncada en el último trabajo hasta la fecha, "In Rainbows".
El primer single de este álbum fue la genial "Paranoid Android", un tema de 6 minutos estructurada en 4 partes diferenciadas (pero unidas). Esta canción se alejaba del pop (estilo británico) que había dominado el álbum anterior, "The Bends", y dejaba ver el experimentalismo que se haría mucho más evidente en el siguiente disco, "Kid A". A pesar de que este fue el primer single, ya se conocía una canción, "Lucky", incluida en un disco benéfico llamado "The Help Album". "Let Down" iba a ser el siguiente single, pero en el último momento se decidió cambiarla por "Karma Police". "No Surprises" fue el último single editado, y esta canción, junto con "Lucky" y "The Tourist", forman un combo genial para rematar el álbum. Pero no nos podemos olvidar de la canción que abre el disco, "Airbag", ni de otros temas, como "Exit Music (For A Film)" o "Climbing Up The Walls".
En general las letras de "Ok Computer" hablan sobre temas como el consumismo, la desconexión social, el estancamiento político y el malestar moderno. Era un crítica feroz a la sociedad de final de siglo y, aunque casi todas las canciones hablen de eso, Radiohead se niega en rotundo a considerar "OK Computer" un álbum conceptual.
En definitiva, uno de los 4 o 5 mejores discos que se han hecho en los 90. Una obra maestra, posiblemente, el último gran disco de rock.
